

Launch of Welo E-Bike: Public Electric Bicycles for the People of Chiang Mai
The official test launch of the Welo E-Bike public electric motorcycle for Chiang Mai has been successfully conducted, with honored guests from various sectors in the province gracing the event. Distinguished attendees included Mr. Thosaphon Phueanudom, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai; Mr. Somchat Wattanakla, Deputy Chief Executive of the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization; Police Lieutenant General Paisan Nanta, Deputy Commander of Chiang Mai Provincial Police; Associate Professor Dr. Seth Sampattakul, Director of the Academic Administration Office at Chiang Mai University; Ms. Ubonwan Thaphan, Vice President of the Northern Chapter of the Thai Hotels Association (Upper Northern Region); Mr. Sawat Charoensuk, Deputy Chairman of Organizational Development for the Thai-Chinese Business Association of Chiang Mai; and Ms. Somsri Srimanas, Deputy Chair for Cultural Promotion at the Thai-Chinese Business Association of Chiang Mai.


Also in attendance were executives including Mr. Song Yi, Chairman of Sino-Unite and Chairman of TOYAR DIGITAL SINGAPORE PTE. LTD.; Ms. Qing Xin, Manager of TOYAR DIGITAL SINGAPORE PTE. LTD.; Mr. Lei Bo, Manager of Toyar Digital (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; Mr. Yang Dong Chen, Deputy General Manager of Sino-Unite; and Mr. Fang Jian Bo, Factory Manager of Fujita.


At this stage, testing is underway to ensure all systems are fully prepared for smooth operation. This includes testing the functionality of the motorcycles, which will be stationed at major locations for convenient access, as well as the app system that users can download and use to scan for bike access. The service is expected to be fully operational soon.


On this occasion, Mr. Thosaphon Phueanudom, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai, praised the initiative to promote green vehicles and emphasized the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel use across all sectors. This aligns with the “Chiang Mai Low Carbon City” commitment, aiming to make Chiang Mai a low-carbon city with carbon neutrality by 2060 and to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065.
